Seeing a candle in the window of homes as I drive by evokes strong emotions for me. Maybe it’s the reminder of Christmastime at home with the family gathered around, maybe it’s the memory of looking into a battery operated tea light in the Christmas play I was in at church, but seeing a candle is peaceful to me and maybe to you, too.
I’m writing an article for a devotional I’ll be featured in about our identity in Christ. How I wish the article was a podcast episode so you can hear my enthusiasm!!
Matthew 5:14-16 says, 14 “You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden. 15 Nor do people light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a stand, and it gives light to all in the house. 16 In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that[a] they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven.”
Sometimes we hesitate when we are stepping out in our businesses, our God given messages and we wonder what’s on the other side of the hesitation. I’m gonna tell you…INCREDIBLE THINGS!!! Things you don’t think can happen!!!
When we step into KNOWING WE are the light of the world, it hits differently. It’s as if God is saying…I’m giving you that platform to shine bright. “Let your good deeds shine Out for all to see” ….NLT version “So that everyone will praise your Heavenly Father.”
The Light is not from us or anything WE can do. It is ALL JESUS. It’s Him. We GET TO give glory to God through OUR life. Through OUR light (that came from him as the Holy Spirit)
Have you ever had someone feel drawn to you and tell you so? It’s the Holy Spirit they are drawn to! Shining in our hearts. Through us. Bringing God Glory.
So do it. What do I mean? Obey the Lord. Do what HE is calling you to do, wanting you to do. It will look differently than others. It SHOULD look differently than others. It may look like offering value in your weekly email. It may mean pressing record as you speak into the mic. It may look like sending the FB message that you’ve been wanting to send. It may look like saying Yes to the speaking event.
Do. It. Take the paper sack OFF your head and SHINE BRIGHTLY. People will notice, people will look at your good works and give GLORY to GOD our Father!
