ep. 44: Take Messy Action (even when you are afraid

Back 2 years ago, we were restoring an airplane in our garage....My husband was cutting something on the airplane and I was like, "aren't you afraid of making a mistake????" What if??? And he said something I will never forget.

“If you are afraid of making a mistake you’ll never start.”

Fear is holding you back

If you have ever felt like...

there is no way

nobody around me is doing this

I'm not gifted enough

what will ppl think of me?

if you are:

hesitant questioning wondering

or even.....down right scared!

this has been me.

NOT ONE TIME did I have thoughts of others in my head. IT was always about me. me me me.

You know when it's all about you, those thoughts are not from God.

God is not so concerned about how insecure you feel about it...he wants you to obey and listen. I'm reading through Jeremiah and how discouraging that would be....not many turned toward the Lord through Jeremiah. HOWEVER, he obeyed. He took action. He listened to what God wanted him to do. But, did you know that Jeremiah was quoted more from Jesus than any other prophet?

I was reminded in David Thomas' book, Raising Emotionally Strong Boys

the life of a christian is living in an upside down kingdom...the last will be first, strength in weakness, life through death to ourselves.

why do we Gotta be so strong...that teaches our kids nothing.

I'm not saying to not be strong....but there is a thing about weakness that is a good teacher.

Remember the quote from a few episodes back...the one about sharing our stories???

Laura Howe's has a podcast called the Care Ministry Podcast and her guest, Jeff Price said, "People admire strength but they identify with weakness."

Maybe the fact that you are hesitant IS part of your story.

That's part of the messy action that is in your story. Have you ever been called a hot mess express....part of your story.

Been told you can't do something and you did it anyway?...part of your story

Have internal dialogue that combats against the truth...part of your story.

You have been called to share it. To take messy action. To write the book. To start the podcast. Your.time.is.now.

Recently, I became acquainted with Rory Vaden and I'm devouring everything he has written, says, etc. He did a famous Ted talk and a book titled Procrastinate on Purpose. He said, this.

"There's a difference in waiting to do something that we know we should be doing that we don't feel like doing vs. waiting to do something cause we are deciding that now is not the right time. The first one is procrastination and it's the killer of success."

Listen....if you know for sure that taking the next step in your business is not for you, yet....I'm not talking about it not being the right time in your family or in your season right now. I'm talking about when God told you exactly what to do and you are putting it off and not listening because of fear or because you don't want to put in the work...

My granddad passed away 2 months after I graduated high school. I had just turned 18...my memory isn't great about specific conversations, but I distinctly remember my grandfather teaching me about the word procrastination. It's just taken a few years for it to sink down deep.

He said that procrastination is choosing to put off what you should do today.

What mistakes are you afraid of making dear friend?

What dreams are you choosing to put off?

YOLO friend. YOLO.

"Most entrepreneurs struggle with getting attention because they are afraid of how they may be perceived by others. The marketplace doesn’t reward those who play it safe and coast under the radar." Grant Cardone

remember my husbands quote...If you are afraid of making a mistake, you will never start.

what mistakes are you afraid of?

So, what are you going to do in this moment. What if you could dream your biggest dreams and not fail? What would you do? Say it outloud. Write it down. And, then tell someone about it. that's when the action begins.
