ep. 167: Christy Nockels: A Heart of Rest-Bullseye Living-Palms Up-Living as Beloved

The very FIRST thing I asked Christy was about the wonders of her hair. If my hair could be jealous of another head o’ hair, it was now. HA.

Quotes:

We wanted so much to have some normalcy.

God was allowing me that exhaustion.

He was allowing me to hit a wall with young motherhood.

He allowed me to hit a point where my strength and capacity had a shelf life. And I needed to have Him reorder my life in order to set a different pace that was sustainable for me and my family.

That physical call home to want normalcy was actually a spiritual call home to come and understand what it looks like to not just live for God, but to live from Him.

Three Concentric Circles: the Bullseye (from her book: The Life You Long For: Learning to Live from a Heart of Rest*)

Psalm 37: 4-6

4 Delight yourself in the Lord,
and he will give you the desires of your heart.

Commit your way to the Lord;
trust in him, and he will act.
He will bring forth your righteousness as the light,
and your justice as the noonday.

(ESV version; I linked my ESV Bible I love!)*

God was literally bringing me back to my Gospel story.

God showed up when I was cleaning the toilet.

You are doing all these things for me, you’re busy, I’ve given you these gifts to sing, and yes, you’ve carried my name, you are taking these songs, but you are in the outer rings of your life and you are exhausting yourself running around trying to do all these things for me.

Just hit the bullseye and I’ll take care of all the outer rings of your life and I’ll show you my glory. I’ll show up in it. I’ll do these things.

Ephesians 2:10: For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them. ESV version (Here’s my wide margin one I LOVE!)*

What if you just came home and you learned how to be my kid again? What if you learned how to just live as a daughter?

What if from that place there was a spillover and then you got to see me work in these outer rings ? What if that hustling is actually holding you back from living as my Beloved?

I love that it took me 15 years to write this book, because then i’m able to look back, encourage others and say he showed up over and over and did what he said he would do when I trusted Him in those days.

God showed up.

Live from the bullseye out.

Secrets of Juggling: (From her book: The Life You Long For: Learning to Live from a Heart of Rest*)

  1. Look up. Lift your head. Lift your eyes to see the arch.

  2. Palms up. This goes against everything we want to do. Ex. Loping a horse- If you let go, you will be more secure.

  3. It’s not about catching what you’ve thrown, it’s throwing with freedom.

1 Peter 5:7 Cast your cares-Throw our cares upon Him.

    Peter: Humilty-Casting off pride

    Step in the beauty

Funny story! about her daughter, Annie Rose (from her book: The Life You Long For: Learning to Live from a Heart of Rest*)

I ran straight to the outer ring and now I’m coming back to the bullseye.

I had to crawl back to the bullseye that morning.
