Don't Make These Business Mistakes:

I’ve been podcasting for a few years now, and recently I looked back at what I’d have done differently if I was starting over. I’m sharing the top 3 mistakes I made - so YOU don’t have to make them, too!

Ready? Here we go!

I wish I had started a website and an email list

Y’all know we don’t “own” our social media platforms, right? If you’re relying on Facebook or Instagram to build your tribe and communicate with them…well, that’s pretty shaky ground. If anything happens to their platforms, (and if you’ve been around the block once or twice, you know that that has already happened!) all of your hard-won follows and likes can go down the tubes, as well. At the very least, you can craft a landing page from Canva (do a search for “landing page templates” so you can personalize it with brand colors, fonts, images, etc) and get a free email account from Mailchimp. Creating a space of your own will allow you to include your shownotes, add affiliate links, and leave space for comments, increasing your ability to interact and build confidence in potential future clients or customers.

I wish I had invested in my podcast as a business

And of course, as a podcaster, the #1 item to invest in is a microphone. When I started, I used the Blue Snoball which my wonderful husband gifted to me one Christmas. I still recommend it, basically because it’s easily transportable with a good sound. But these days I’ve finally upgraded to the ATR-2100, , which I wanted for years but felt was out of reach. And at only $99 as of this recording date, it really isn’t something that should break the bank. But, ahhhh, the sound difference! Y’all, I wish I hadn’t waited FIVE YEARS to give myself permission to make this investment! (Also, if you’re a small business owner who podcasts, or you know one, shout out to my friend Erica Goode my financial friend…’cause that microphone is definitely a business expense!)

I wish I had started the “Don’t Wing It” podcast earlier

For far too long I had had people asking me “So when are you going to start a podcast for your business, Wren?” and I have seen the difference it’s made! I have more followers and interactions on social media, my email list has grown, and the amount of people I’ve reached - who need to hear the help I can offer them - has grown exponentially.

Now, after listening to all my mistakes, my question for you is:

Is it time for you to start your podcast? I know it can be overwhelming. And, trust me, friend, if there’s a mistake to be made, I probably have done it. So I “get” you!

My “Podcast Runway 101” program will get you started on launching your podcast when we work together! You’ll know how to record, edit, and publish, and will leave with your podcast trailer and first three episodes all ready to GO. I provide one-on-one instruction and give you all the tools you need to successfully launch.

Book a free 20-minute discovery call with me to hear all that’s included… We’ll just talk. There’s no commitment required, just the opportunity to get all the info.

Looking forward to hearing from you soon, friend, ‘cause as we know “life’s too short to wing it!”
